Question
We are a packaging house for ESD devices, what is the maximum exposure time for humidity sensitive devices if my production floor is controlled within a temperature of 25 +/- 3 deg Celsius and humidity of between RH 35 - 65%? - Anonymous, Bayan Lepas, Malaysia
Answer
You will have to check with the manufacturer of your humidity sensitive devices to learn their maximum exposure rates. As far as ESD Control is concerned, the humidity range is adequate (a little loose [45 - 55% RH is tighter]) to help your ESD control program, but is in no way a substitute for it. Going over 60% RH, there is concern of corrosion for humidity sensitive parts, but this is dependent on time and amount of exposure, check with the manufacturer's of those devices.
