Question
Can we connect the ESD GND to the main GND? - Alex, Beijing, China
Answer
Yes, the main ground would suffice. The main ground can be a building ground, power ground, earth ground, as long as the potential between it and the operating ground at the workstation have the same potential (i.e., 0 Volts difference). The preferred ground is an earth ground, but any should work well for ESD. Power ground can transmit EMI noise which could cause problems depending on the types of loads on your lines.
