Question
Do I need to seal the metalized static bag with zipper if I put the unit inside the bag? Why?
Answer
Shielding ESD sensitive items from electrostatic charges and ESD events can be accomplished using ESD packaging such as Metal In Bags, Metal Out Bags, covered conductive tote boxes, and In-Plant Handlers with Lids. The ESD shielding bags should be closed via heat sealing, a zipper, or folding over attaching tape or a label. The idea is to restrict the charge to the exterior of the package and protect the contents in the interior.ESD Handbook ESD-TR 20.20 section 4.3.3 Checklists for ESD Packaging Materials includes: 5. Are ESD protective packages properly closed?
