Question
During production we use metal racks to hold and transport our CCA's. For various reasons we decided to look into manufacturing our own racks. What would be the pitfalls making racks out of wood on 2 sides and joined by metal on the opposing sides with regard to ESD? - Frank, Clearwater, FL
Answer
Wood racks are not a bad choice for holding static sensitive devices. It is not a conductor so you would have to keep CCA’s in a shielding bag or conductive box. Using metal shelves would be acceptable but the shelves would have to be grounded.
