Question
How do we control or rid ESD problems in explosive areas like fuel store, closed areas where flammable vapors are present as ionizers may cause sparking? Can we treat all static electricity problems as ESD? - Anonymous, Singapore
Answer
I will have to defer this answer to the NFPA standards which explicitly talks about controlling ESD in environments that can electrically initiate explosive devices. The National Fire Protection Agency: NFPA 77-1983, Recommended Practice on Static Electricity Controlling Fire/Ignition Hazards from Static Electricity.
